Random Trip Pictures

Walking along Broadway in Westchester County, after a brief, fierce cloudburst.  Did you know Broadway runs all the way from New York City to Albany, some 150 miles?

One of the buildings on the hotel grounds.

Hudson River sunset from my hotel room.

The mighty river by day, above, and electric yellow forsythia blooming along my path.

In The City

Grand Central Station

A lot of light and shadows.

A lot of hustle and bustle.

A Hudson River boat plying its trade just blocks from the Bronx, photographed from on the train.

More Trip Pictures

One of two abandoned sugar mills along the train tracks into the city.

One of two very well fed shop cats in the city - they moved slowly as molasses.

No, not a shop, but a private home where the owner's needful things spilled out of the house, onto the porch, down the stairs and into the yard.  Hey, Nina, check out that low maintenance chicken on the railing to the left.

Just about every sidewalk was bordered by a moss encrusted granite wall.

Yesterday Back Home

Back home just in time for an overnight wind storm and some rain.  The seaside lagoon at the edge of town was barely rippled the next afternoon.

A perfect day for a drive up the coast for a hamburger and fries.

Looking south, above, and looking north, below.

The drive home, through a dirty windshield.

There And Back Again

Business took me east this week, just in time for daffodils and flowering trees.

Shop displays ran the gamut from highly stylized to years old jumbles.

A cold wind blew down the streets between the skyscrapers, keeping temperatures in the 40s.

The train into the city was quick and easy, with nonstop views the whole way.

Yesterday On The Road

Business took me on the road yesterday.  Unexpectedly, there was a deserted carnival along the way.

We rolled up to it over straw that had been scattered to cover puddles from last week's rain.

Walking In The Neighborhood

My daughter joined me for a walk around the neighborhood yesterday.  Ice plant is blooming something fierce right now, enticing bees with pollen laden pistils.

African daisies are used frequently as ground cover around here and make a cheerful carpet in sunny patches.

These random tulips were a surprise, blooming at the side of the road.  Lastly, a neighborhood walk is never complete without a fence charge and serious squawking from a half crazed goose.
