Saturday On The Beach
We walked on the beach yesterday and not surprisingly, many of the cars parked along the Coast Highway were from out of state - Colorado, Oregon and other parts, further away and a lot colder. A January day in the mid sixties must have seemed downright tropical, as people came prepared with towels for lying out and and drywall buckets for building sand castles.
The tide was outgoing but still high enough in places that we walked along the base of the cliff, picking a path through thousands of wave tossed cobblestones.
The folks below were watching their three kids swimming in long pants and flannel shirts. Sometimes the call of the sea (even at 58 degrees) is stronger than the discomfort of wearing soaking wet, sand encrusted blue jeans.
