Gardening

Planting shell ginger on the patio seemed like a great idea 13 years ago, but now that the roots threaten the house foundation, not so much.  My project last week was to cut it back and dig out the roots, which can only be dislodged with a pick ax.  What appeared at first blush to be a one day project is moving into another week.  Shell ginger is a very tenacious plant and cutting it back has prompted more vigorous growth.  If you decide to plant shell ginger in your own garden, best keep it away from the house!
