Little House

This tidy little house has long been on my radar. As kids we rode our bikes past it, as teens we drove by it on a shortcut to the beach, as my daughter does now when she takes me along while she surfs. It's just down the street from where my dad grew up. Imagine my surprise to just learn it was my great-grandparents house, moved to this spot to make way for the first "supermarket" in town in the 1950s.

Fun In The Sun

When the surf's too small for shortboarding, my daughter, above, likes to make the most of a summer day with her standup paddle board and usually can't resist catching a few waves on it. She rides one of the finest standup paddle boards on the market, made with care and precision locally.

Hummingbirds Out The Window

We moved their feeder from one window to the other and all the sudden the patio is Hummingbird Central. They drain the feeder in two days. The little fellow in the pictures is resting in the shade on a shell ginger leaf, waiting patiently to pester any others who approach "his" feeder. The pictures are grainy, taken from a distance through a window that desperately needs washing.
