Land's End

This week my sister joined me and our dad on a morning drive to Fort Rosecrans in San Diego. We paid our respects at the national cemetery and drove to the Cabrillo Monument and old lighthouse at land's end. My folks had taken us there when we were kids, some 50 years ago and it was our first time back. In this fast paced and ever changing world, it was good to see some things stay the same.

The monument commemorates the 1542 voyage of Juan Cabrillo, the first European to sail the coast of California. A young blue jay huddled in the breeze atop the statue.
