The Way It Was

This is an artist's rendering of what the old Noah's Ark restaurant looked like, at beach at the edge of town in the 1950s. It had 12 foot wooden painted animal cutouts standing on the bluff and the restaurant itself was shaped like Noah's ark. To my child brain back then, none of it seemed out of the ordinary. Seeing it meant we were almost home.

Presumably it is no longer there - sadly.

I would beg my parents to stop and eat there. When I was about five years old, they did stop and I had a grilled cheese sandwich. The cafe is gone and so are my parents, but the memory of that sandwich eaten 56 years ago still lives.
