Ahead Of The Storm

On the way to the beach yesterday we passed some California poppies growing wild in a culvert along the railroad tracks.

The weatherman says there's a 100% chance of rain this weekend, so we hauled beach rocks 3 days in a row, to beat the storm.

i have a long garden bed filled with river pebbles that look so much like the beach rocks you're collecting. my daughter likes to find the pure white ones and stages them around our house with bits of wood, dead moths, butterflies, dried flowers and whatever else comes her way. steven

I have a garden full of greywacke, too. I love it when it rains on them and then the sun comes out (this happens a lot in NZ) - the colours are so beautiful - more blues than i have words for describing.
