American Old West Saloons - #21 In a Series

Appearances can be deceiving. In Pine Knob, Missouri, in 1905, the Amelung Saloon was housed in this brick building. The family who ran it lived upstairs. From the outside, it looked quite different than the raucous scene inside, shown below.

Our little town used to be filled with saloons and opera houses. I'm wondering if you looked up the Grossheim collection in Muscatine Iowa, you might find some cool shots there. He was a local photographer. My first antique shop was in his old studio building.

Our main street, with it's trolley car rivaled Chicago, back in the day...where did the glory go..?
