The California Coast In 1866



Pictured is the town of Santa Cruz, California in 1866, a village on the coast, almost completely devoid of trees and sparsely populated.

golden west look at all that property and not a tree! is that how it started or was it all cleared away? it doesn't look like it's being farmed so i wonder what the thinking was. steven
