Sour Grapes

We eat a lot of raisins around here, either straight out of the box or baked into cookies and stirred into oatmeal. Sun Maid raisins have always been our favorite - sweet, juicy and consistently high quality. That's the first sun maid, above, a child from Fresno, who in 1915 was combing her wet hair in the sun when she was approached to pose with a basket of grapes to market raisins.

Over the years, her "look" got an update, as have so many other advertising icons - Betty Crocker, Aunt Jemima, the Morton salt girl. Above, she'd been aged from a child to a young woman. Hold onto your bonnet! Her latest incarnation is below. Advertising is a powerful medium, in this case, strong enough to convince me to switch to the store brand.

We too have Sunmaid raisins in the UK and they do taste delicious straight out of the box GW.

The newest girl looks like a Disney princess. I'll take the second version, the one from my childhood.

I would rather have the oldest box design. Retro charm for me.
The new box was surly designed by a committee just throw all ideas on a box and see what happens. AWFUL. !
