100 Years Ago In Samarkand



100 years ago, eight monks, called Duvans, posed in a Samarkand courtyard for Sergei Prokudin-Gorskii, as he continued his task of documenting the far reaches of the Russian Empire for Czar Nicholas.

And I thought my wardrobe was rustic...it just kills me, all the blogs that have nice neat studios, works of art...it'll never happen in my lifetime!!!

I love the family portraits and all of your summer shots...sigh...I long to visit California again!!!

They have snow on their hats - amazing pictures. They look solemn - or maybe just cold! I could write a whole story from that picture alone.
