What Fell To Earth

The breeze was gusty on the beach yesterday. It churned the surface of the ocean and the waves were especially loud. A small thudding sound caught my attention and much to my surprise, this little bird dropped from the sky onto the sand.

It was too large to have been pushed out of a nest, but possibly tumbled down the cliff somehow or collided flying with another bird. It rested quietly in my hand a bit.

There was a sheltered spot next to the cliff where fresh water dripped down, and once it had its bearings back, we exchanged a final look and went our separate ways.
