At The Mission In Pala ~ 1885

This photograph was taken in 1885, about 20 miles from here. In the foreground are Chief Jose Pachito and General Pedro Pablo, leaders of the Luiseno tribe of Native Americans, gathered for a meeting at Mission San Antonio de Pala.

Those missions were really interesting - went round the Alamo when we were in San Antonio - the idea behind the mission was a sound one, I think taking in mind the circumstances at the time.
