Another Walk In The Neighborhood

Up the hill behind our house, a row of palms down a private drive, and ripe grapes growing along the street side of a fence, ripe for the picking.

Drought

We're in the midst of an ongoing drought and on the verge of mandatory water rationing again.  As we walked through the neighborhood, a wee caterpillar couldn't stay put and made his way slowly across the burning hot macadam in the heat of the day.

We made the acquaintance of a very skinny cat whose collar read "Oliver" when he roused himself from his parched, patchy lawn in pursuit of pets.

The Hummer Games

We've got a half dozen hummingbirds who spent their days doing battle over their two feeders.  They rarely share, so it was a surprise to see two perched together.

What's Blooming In Summer

The hardiest plants in my garden are those that are self-sown.  This coreopsis is no exception.  One of the blossoms plays host to a wee bug.

A new mural painted on the side of a local liquor store.
